"Het Lam Gods"
|
"Het Lam Gods" for string quartet,
is written on the famous triptych « Het Lam Gods » (the Mystical Lamb) by the Flemish painters Hubert and Jan Van Eyck (1432), exhibited nowadays at the Saint Bavo Cathedral in Gent (Belgium).
"It is in sonic vapours, sometimes trembling, also overcome by a form of fever and exaltation, that the panels of the upper part of the triptych are evoked, Adam and Eve, Angels singers and musicians, John the Baptist and the Blessed Virgin, God, Son or Father; then those of the lower part: the pilgrims, hermits, knights of Christ and just judges, and finally the Mystical Lamb." Genevieve Mathon.
The work was premiered by the Quatuor Benaim in June 2007, during the Rencontres Musicales ProQuartet in Fontainebleau (France).
