"Het Lam Gods"

"Het Lam Gods" for string quartet,
is written on the famous triptych « Het Lam Gods » (the Mystical Lamb) by the Flemish painters Hubert and Jan Van Eyck (1432), exhibited nowadays at the Saint Bavo Cathedral in Gent (Belgium).
The retable is constituted of 24 panels, 20 of which deal with religious themes. In « Het Lam Gods », the composer musically transposes the atmospheres of the pannels: Adam and Eve, Angels singers and musicians, John the Baptist and the Blessed Virgin, God, Son or Father, then the pilgrims, hermits, knights of Christ and just judges, and finally the Mystical Lamb.
The work was premiered by the Quatuor Benaim in June 2007, during the Rencontres Musicales ProQuartet in Fontainebleau (France).
